Wakefield Together is creating a blueprint for the district to capture people’s ambitions over the next 10 years – and it wants to hear from you.
Citizens from across the district are invited to take part and have their say at three events in Castleford, South Kirkby and Wakefield.
The events will look at themes exploring:
- How to build safer, stronger and healthier communities and encourage skills and employment in the district
- The transformation of some of the district’s secondary schools and how they can best fulfil their role in the heart of our communities
- How to achieve growth and regeneration, and improve the places where citizens live through more jobs, housing and better transport
Chairman of Wakefield Together Peter Box said: “We are working with the people in the district - our biggest partners - to deliver a blueprint for the district for the next 10 years. To do this we are bringing together all our plans into one masterplan and giving everyone the opportunity to shape it with us.
“Sometimes, we won’t be able to do everything that people want us to do, but I’m determined that as we move forward everyone will have the chance to have their say and these events are the start of that.
“There is a lot going on across the district, but there’s always more to do and we value your views to help us shape the future.”
There will be various workshops covering issues such as affordable homes, roads, schools, regeneration, skills and enterprise and leisure.
The events are on:
- Thursday 28 January at the Civic Centre, Castleford with registration and stalls from 5.15 pm. (Event ends at 9pm)
- Friday 12 February at The Grove, South Kirkby, with registration and stalls from 9.15am. (Event ends at 1pm)
- Friday 19 February at the Town hall, Wakefield, with registration and stalls from 9.15 am. (Event ends at 1pm).
