Feb 10 - Citizens have their say
Ref: PR 2500
Date: 02/02/2010
Citizens came together in Castleford for the first in the series of events designed to provide an opportunity to create a Blueprint that captures ambitions for Wakefield District for the coming years. This was the first in a series of three events being held across the District.
Chairperson of the Wakefield Together Partnership Cllr Peter Box stated "Agencies such as Wakefield Council, Police, NHS, Fire Service and many others continue to increasingly work together to provide a better approach to help ensure Wakefield is a place where people want to live. However this partnership is only effective if it delivers what the citizens of Wakefield want. I am very pleased that a number of our citizens attended the event and they had a great deal to say. All of their comments and views will now be used to help shape the future of the District in the years to come’’.
During the event citizens helped identify how partners can work together to build safer, stronger and healthier communities and encourage skills and employment in the district. Discussions also took place to discuss proposals about transforming secondary schools and achieving growth and regeneration by improving the places where people live through more jobs, housing and better transport.
The programme continues to tour the district with events taking place on Friday 12 February at The Grove, South Kirkby and on Friday 19 February at Wakefield Town Hall, Wood Street.
