Apr 10 - £6.5 million funding boost for Wakefield Together

Wakefield Together has secured around £6.5m in reward funding in recognition of its excellent partnership work.

Chair of Wakefield Together, Peter Box said: “I am delighted to confirm that Wakefield Together partnership has secured extra funding of £6.5m to be spent across the district on the partnership’s key priority areas.

“This funding is reward money, which recognises the excellent work being done by the partnership in things like driving down crime, helping improve people’s health and better housing.

“The money will go back into the partnership to be allocated during the next few years towards key priorities including crime and anti-social behaviour, homelessness and worklessness. Other areas will be considered too.”

Alan Wittrick, deputy chair of Wakefield Together and chief executive of NHS Wakefield District, said: “This extra funding is in recognition of the great work being done by all members of Wakefield Together – it recognises both the strength and commitment of the partnership and what is being achieved.

“To bring in £6.5m is a real achievement and members of Wakefield Together have really pulled out the stops in a number of areas. We will now focus on getting the very best out of this funding.”

Wakefield Together is the local strategic partnership (LSP) for Wakefield district bringing together key agencies in the district who deliver the many services and activities that affect the lives of people who live, work, visit and do business in the area.
