Sep 2011 - Residents invited to Area Forums

Ref: PR 3152
Date: 27/09/2011

The Wakefield Together Partnership will hold its next round of area forums during October and November.

The forums take place three times a year across the District, and give local people a chance to meet officers from the Council, Police, NHS, Fire Service and Housing and have a say in how they can make their area a great place to live and work.

The latest round of forums will give people an opportunity to put forward their ideas on how £1,000 of funding can be put to good use in their local community. There will also be an update on how the hard work and commitment of local community groups is already making a real difference plus an update on what action has been taken to tackle concerns raised at the last round of forums.

Cllr Maureen Cummings, Wakefield Council's Cabinet member for Communities and the Environment said: "We all want to live in a neighbourhood where we can be proud to live and work. The forums give communities an opportunity to have their say on the issues that are important to them and I would like to encourage people to go along to find out what is happening in their local area.”

Chief Superintendent Marc Callaghan, Divisional Commander of Wakefield District Police, said: "Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams are out and about in local communities every day working hard with partners and residents to tackle any issues. Area Forums are a vital part of the process for police and other agencies to meet local people and find out from them how we can all work together to make their communities great places to live."
