Safer Communities Partnership

The Safer Communities Partnership Board brings together the previous Community Safety Partnership and the Environmental Wellbeing Partnership. Wakefield in bloom

The priorities for the partnership will be informed by local strategies and national priorities as well as other cross cutting issues identified through working with the community and with local agencies.

The responsibilities of the Safer Communities Partnership include:

  • more respect in communities and less anti social behaviour
  • cleaner and greener public spaces that are valued and used by local communities
  • less domestic abuse
  • less crime and harm caused by illegal drugs and a reassured public with less fear of crime
  • more people feeling empowered and having a greater voice and influence over local decision making and the delivery of services
  • fewer young people involved in crime
  • improved quality of life for people in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods and ensure services are more responsive to neighbourhood needs and improving delivery
  • better quality housing and housing environments

Ken Taylor, Chair of the Safer Communities Partnership

"Bringing the two partnerships together provides us with an exciting opportunity to focus on the needs of our communities and to align our strategies, services and resources to work more effectively to meet these. Through this joint approach I see us making a significant difference on key challenges such as increasing community safety, improving the environment where we live and work and developing local actions to contribute to addressing climate change."

Wakefield District Safer Communities Partnership is committed to engaging with communities to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Wakefield, and will work towards sustainable approaches to achieving a safer, cleaner and a greener district.
