Wakefield Together Pledges

The Wakefield Together Partnership which includes the Council, NHS, Police and Wakefield District Housing is pledging to improve the quality of life for people in the district.

We have agreed five pledges, based on priorities identified by local people, which will form the basis of Wakefield Together’s drive to:

    1. create job opportunities, raise skill levels and help local people into employment
    2. meet the housing needs of the district
    3. reduce health inequalities between different parts of the district
    4. continue to make the district safer by reducing the level of crime and anti social behaviour in the district
    5. create a better quality environment

Chairman of the Wakefield Together Partnership Cllr Peter Box said: ‘’All public services face tough challenges in the months and years ahead and to meet these we have to look at different ways of working together and delivering services to citizens.

“The pledges we are making are based on what people in this district see as priorities for public services and point the way forward for the Partnership. I am grateful to all those who took part in shaping these pledges and look forward to seeing them used to deliver results in our communities.”

The Partnership has recently been discussing ways of working together with community leaders, voluntary sector and businesses, removing barriers between organisations and coming up with innovative ways forward.

A refreshed long term plan - the Community Strategy - for the district, based on the pledges is currently being drawn up.
